President Jacob Zuma

The Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) tonight reacted on President Jacob Zuma’s freshly delivered State of the Nation Address.  While the Federation was pleased with the President’s commitment to Decent Work, burning concerns included the delays in discussions and implementation of social security reform, incoherent policy implementation, as well as service delivery in general.

FEDUSA is positive about the fact that unemployment, officially at 25.3% but unofficially viewed at above 40%, and economic transformation took centre stage in the speech with a target of five million new jobs by 2020 and a reduction of unemployment to 15%.
