The FEDUSA President for three consecutive terms is Mary Malete – fondly referred to as “Ma Mary”.Mary, a member of the FEDUSA affiliated Trade union HOSPERSA(Health and other Service Personnel Trade Union of South Africa), was also the first black woman in the world to serve as president of a Trade union Federation.

Koos Bezuidenhout

FEDUSA’s Deputy President is Koos Bezuidenhout, chief executive officer of the United Association of South Africa (UASA), which is currently the largest affiliate within the FEDUSA family. As part of the FEDUSA Management Committee, Koos plays an important role in strategic decision-making.

 

Lauretha Rudolph

Lauretha Rudolph

Lauretha Rudolph is the FEDUSA Vice President (Gender) and is chairperson of the FEDUSA Equity Forum, which deals with matters such as Gender Equity, HIV and AIDS, Child Labour and Sexual Harassment. Ms Rudolph is the general secretary of the South African Typographical Union (SATU) – the oldest union in South Africa.

Eliam Biyela

Eliam Biyela

Eliam Biyela is the Vice President (Development) of FEDUSA and is responsible for overseeing issues pertaining to social development. Eliam is the executive director of the National Teachers Union (NATU), which organises in the education sector.

 

Danie Carstens

Danie Carstens

Danie Carstens holds the office of Vice President (Finance) and, as chairperson of the FEDUSA Financial Committee (FinCom), Danie has the difficult task of managing the finances of the Federation. Danie is also president of the independent Municipal and Allied Trade Union (IMATU), which organises local government employees.
