FEDUSA Fully Supports Public Sector Affiliates Concourt Action

23 August 2021

The Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) is fully behind the decision by its public sector affiliates HOSPERSA, NAPTOSA, the PSA, SAOU and SAPTU to challenge the governments’ non-implementation of the third stage of  the 2018 wage agreement at the Constitutional Court. The challenge turns on a three-pronged strategy. First, to force the government to respect the institution of collective bargaining by complying with the International Labour Organization’s Convention on Collective Bargaining. Second, to secure justice for public servants. Third, to close any wiggle room for employers to renege on legally binding collective bargaining agreements as the government has done in this case.

The arguments will be heard in the Constitutional Court on the 24 August at 10h00. FEDUSA will always defend the inalienable right of all workers to improve wages and other working conditions through collective bargaining.
