FEDUSA Transnet Wages

Media Statement: FEDUSA supports UNTU amidst tough wage negotiations with Transnet

15 May 2025

The Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) supports its affiliate, the United National Transport Union (UNTU), as the union are in challenging wage negotiations with Transnet. Should the intervention by Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) fail and UNTU members find themselves compelled to embark on industrial action to secure fair wages, FEDUSA will support them.

FEDUSA calls for fair wage negotiation processes and expresses its disappointment that Transnet workers are being forced to consider industrial action as a means to achieve fair compensation. In the current economic situation of South Africa, where the cost of living continues to skyrocket, it is important that wages must be in line with these financial pressures.

We urge Transnet to return to the negotiation table with a new and fair wage offer that will address the financial strain experienced by its employees.

FEDUSA is in solidarity with UNTU and its members during this challenging time.
