17 October 2025
The Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) warmly congratulates its affiliate, UASA, on the successful hosting of its 8th National Congress, held from 15 –16 October 2025 at Misty Hills in Gauteng, and on the election of its new leadership.
FEDUSA is confident that UASA will continue to champion the rights and interests of its members with integrity, vision, and strength. We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the outgoing leadership of UASA for their dedicated service, commitment, and valuable contributions to the labour movement.
Their contributions have laid a strong foundation upon which the new leadership can continue to build on. UASA has demonstrated confidence and a strong commitment to gender equality by electing an allfemale leadership to lead the organisation at its highest level of decision-making.
The newly elected UASA leadership is as follows:
- President: Carike Van Aswegen-Pienaar
- 1st Vice President: Ashmica Manoojahdass
- 2nd Vice President: Mercia Hoorzuk
FEDUSA is proud to walk this path with UASA and all our affiliates, knowing that our unity is our most powerful weapon against exploitation and despair.
END.
