4 February 2026
The Federation of Unions of South Africa (FEDUSA) welcomes the latest fuel price reduction, effective Wednesday, 4 February 2026. This decrease provides much needed relief to motorists, households, and businesses across the country.
However, the increase in gas prices is a concern, as it will place additional strain on households that rely on gas for cooking and heating, particularly during the colder months. High fuel prices have long placed significant pressure on consumers, limiting their ability to spend on other essential needs.
Despite the reduction in fuel prices, many commuters have not yet seen a corresponding decrease in transport costs. It is important to acknowledge that commuters are also in need of relief and should benefit from these decreases. Considering the steady fuel price decreases, FEDUSA calls on taxi and bus associations to review and adjust fares accordingly.
FEDUSA hopes this positive trend continues, with further fuel price reductions providing sustained relief to South Africans who are struggling with the high cost of living.
END.
