As an affiliate of FEDUSA, PEU plays an important role in promoting quality education, professional development, and the protection of educators’ rights. We look forward to working closely with the new leadership in advancing our shared goals of decent work, inclusive education, and social justice.
The journey of PEU began in 1904 at a gathering of African teachers near Polokwane (then Pietersburg), which led to the formation of the Northern Transvaal Native Teachers Association in 1906.
Over the decades, the organization underwent several transformations and name changes. Finally, in 1998, 94 years later PEU was officially launched.
END.
